National Disaster Observatory (NDO), an integrated platform solution for managing and using disaster risk, will be initially released at UNSPIDER's 6th annual international conference on Space-based Technology for Disaster Management - Understanding Disaster Risk". Initiated by the Global Risk Identification Programme (GRIP) of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and jointly developed by the Center of Excellence for Risk Analysis and Management of Shanghai Normal University (CERAM Shanghai, Rodel Risk Solutions of Canada, and Shanghai GISINFO Technology CO., LTD., NDO is designed to support disaster management authories to develop Integrated Disaster Information Management System:
- promote cross-sectoral sharing and coordinated management of disaster information to strengthen synergy among different authorities and agencies during emegerncy and disasters;
- provide timely, all-dimensional information services for real-time disaster monitoring and decision making in disaster response;
- provide integrated risk assessment and governance with solid data and knowledge by in-depth forensic analysis of historic disasters.
